Santa Clara Valley Water District Landscape Conversion Rebates

Who: Residents of Santa Clara County
What: $2/ SQFT awarded to convert turf lawn (dead or alive) or a swimming pool to a low water use landscape. Maximum rebate of $3000.
How: Apply online to request a pre-inspection and complete the online application. After receiving approval and a Notice to Proceed, complete the landscape conversion within 90 days. Then, call to schedule a post-inspection visit. The rebate check will be issued within 6-8 weeks. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.
Rebates also offered for: In-line drip conversion, irrigation equipment conversion, and rainwater capture.
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY:

City of Santa Cruz Turf Removal Rebates

Who: Residents serviced by City of Santa Cruz Water Department
What: $1/SQFT awarded to convert well-maintained turf lawn with an in-ground irrigation system to a low water use landscape with a drip irrigation system. Maximum rebate of $1000.
How: Call the Water Conservation Office at 831-420-5230 to schedule a pre-inspection site visit and to receive approval to begin the project. After approval, do the turf removal and landscape conversion. Then, call to schedule a post-inspection visit and submit rebate application for a check to be issued. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.

Soquel Creek Water District Turf Replacement Rebates

What: $2/ SQFT awarded to convert turf lawn (dead or alive) with an in-ground irrigation system to a low water use landscape with drip irrigation. Maximum rebate of $2000. Rebate given as a credit on water bill.
How: Call to schedule a pre-approval inspection. Complete turf removal project and save all receipts. Schedule a post inspection. Submit the Turf Replacement Application with original receipts to receive credit. Re-landscaping must be completed within 120 days of the pre-approval inspection. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.
Rebates also offered for: Impermeable hardscape conversion, irrigation retrofits, rainwater catchment, and grey-water to landscape projects.

What: $1/ SQFT awarded to covert turf lawn (dead or alive) to a low water use landscape. Maximum rebate of $1000/ fiscal year.
How: Apply online for a pre-inspection. After pre-inspection visit and approval, complete the online application. Do landscape conversion within 90 days from pre-inspection. Apply online for a post-inspection visit and then receive your rebate check in the mail. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.
Rebates also offered for: Irrigation retrofits, greywater to landscape projects, rain barrels, downspout diversion projects, and impermeable hardscape replacement projects.

City of Watsonville Lawn Replacement Rebates

What: $1/ SQFT awarded to replace well-maintained lawns with an in-ground sprinkler system with drought-tolerant, permeable landscaping. Maximum rebate of $1000.
How: Call to request a pre-approval site visit. Complete pre-approval form. Complete lawn replacement project within 90 days of the pre-approval site visit. Schedule post inspection visit and submit rebate application with original sales receipts of project materials. Rebate will be issued within 4-6 weeks. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.

What: $1- 4/ SQFT awarded to convert well-maintained turf lawn with an in-ground irrigation system to a low water use landscape with drip irrigation. No maximum rebate amount, though only awarded once per account holder.
How: Submit the online application and request a pre-conversion inspection. After receiving approval and a Notice to Proceed, complete the landscape conversion within 4 months of the the pre-conversion inspection. Then, call to schedule a post-inspection visit. Finally, the rebate check or water bill credit will be issued. Projects started without pre-inspection and approval will not be eligible for a rebate.
